Another big win for Tesselaar

Big, stylish and fast.

Dutch trainer Dion Tesselaar introduced a new star when Novato won the Breeders Course Final for 2-year-olds. The winning time in the nasty rainy weather was 1.12.4 - and then we are talking about the second career start for Novato.

– Why is he so good? This is a handsome and a big horse - and he can run fast, which is most important of all.

It is only two months since Tesselaar visited Jägersro and won the final for 3-year-olds with Gio Cash. Now he was back with the next star.

Novato was raised in Holland, but has Stefan Hultman's star Maharajah as a father. He is owned and bred by a group of friends who share horses - and a house in Portugal. Hence the stable name Stal Serra E Mar.

The owners looked forward to a long evening in Malmö, without Dion Tesselaar.

But it all started in a slightly messy start where a couple of competitors galloped. Per Nordström drove to the lead with Loveletter In, Ken Ecce got the outside with the favorite Fiftyfour. It was a furious race for the lead and behind sat Tesselaar smiling.

- It suited us well that it was such a tough drive. I have a strong and good horse.

Towards the final turn, Navato stepped into the game, took over the lead and cruised to an easy victory.

The Dutch owners cheered, would celebrate the victory while Tesselaar did as usual after a big win.

- I'm driving home to Wolvega tonight. I have many horses to be trained...

Behind the winner, Eminem Font responded for a strong finish, Fiftyfour sprinted sharply after a late gap while Tino Barosso galloped away his opportunities at the start.
