The double eliminationraces at Solvalla and Jägersro for the Breeders Course 3 years old 2020 First Final saw some of the best horses of the year at the top.
At Solvalla, the big favorite and winner was Hell Bent For Am (Örjan Kihlström / Stefan Melander) before runner up Natorp Bo (Kim Eriksson / Patricia van der Meer).
– He was very strong and Marcus [US-stationed Marcus Melander] had arranged for us in a really good way. He had just gone some heat for me before the first race and it was very difficult to know he good he was, but the horse won in a very good way and is very capable, Melander said.
For Hell Bent For Am, it was about front from start to finish, Kihlström was pushing him just as much as needed to keep the lead. Then the race was basically over. Natorp Bo lifted behind, finished well but never with a chance of victory.
At Jägersro it was about more drama. There Philosopher (Peter Ingves / Sören Norberg) won before Kuyt F.Boko (Robin Bakker / Paul Hagoort). But Philosopher galloped in the first turn, dropping many meters but his speed from the queue position the last 500 meters was magnificent.
– We have always known that this is a really nice horse. He was ill for a period last fall and could not do himself justice, but now he is good, explained veterantrainer Sören Norberg.
Here Kuyt F.Boko was brave after a tough race outside and he will in all likelihood be in even better shape for the final on May 31 at Solvalla with a total prize amount of SEK 2 million.
Now one elimination race remains, in Holland on Saturday, before the final field is completed. As the fifth race now will be run, it means that the two first Breeders Course horses in each elimination and two threes will take place in the final.
