Northern Charm surprise in Denmark

The season's first Breeder Course elimination ended with a surprise.
Northern Charm, trained by Christian Lindhardt in Germany, defeated the Danish star Dontpaytheferryman.
– I had a good feeling all the time, Lindhardt said after the win.
Lindhardt sent his horse directly to the lead and then determined the pace (18.6/1000 meter) with the four competitors in a row behind. With one lap left Birger Jörgensen sent Donpaytheferryman forward, but despite a quick final halfmile they could never put any grip on the leader.
– Northern Charm felt calm and nice today so I decided to send him from the gate and it worked out well, Lindhardt summed up the tactics.
Northern Charm is owned (Günther Herz) and bred (Stuteri Lasbek) in Germany, dad is star stallion Muscle Hill and mom Clothie is sister to star Timberland.
– Normally the horse should move forward with this race," Lindhardt thought, considering the final at Åby on May 12th.
Donpaytheferryman then scored his first loss in his seventh start, but did fall with the top flag.
– The horse has not done any hard work, it's clear I wanted it to win but I think it did a good run," said the owner and trainer Peter Rudbeck.
Dontpaytheferryman held second place and is therefore also qualified for the final.
Feeling Way took third place a bit behind the first two.
