Bonus race Breeders Course for three-year-old mares.
It’s nothing but success.
Twelve talented mares to start at Jägersro on Wednesday and racingmanager Mats Ahlkvist is very pleased:
– It’s a really good race. Nice prize money [SEK 125 000 for the winner] for horses that have not yet reached that far in their careers.
In addition, the race is only open to mares, which many trainers and horse owners appreciate.
We look a bit in the startlist and find Callmefama Kronos. She is trained by Joakim Lövgren at Jägersro - who has three horses in the race - and has a pedigree that stands out. The father Ready Cash needs no presentation, the mother Fama Currit (picture) earned SEK 7,7 million and had a magical 4-year-old season where she won the Drottningens Pokal, the Stochampionatet, the Derbystoet and the Breeders Crown. In the European Derby, against the stallions, she finished third. Callmefama Kronos is Fama Currit's fifth offspring - everyone has started and won so far; Zeta Kronos and Barbro Kronos have also both earned over one million SEK.
We also note Waka Waka (trainer Svante Båth) who has siblings like Fanny Chenal, 1,3 million, and Alien Kronos, 922 000.
Garden Leave, one of Johan Untersteiner's three horses in the race, has siblings like Deep Pockets and Gardner Shaw who both earn over a million SEK.
Rodeo Drive OK is the half-sister of I D Excellent and earned almost two million in Italy.
So in all simplicity, this bonus race is a collection of really well-bred talents - completely in the spirit of Breeders Course.
